Classical groups are the symmetry groups of classical geometries. This lecture is about representations of classical groups and where to find them. I will discuss two broad ideas: ·

l Classical groups have their natural homes, and their representations should be constructed from materials available in their homes.

l Classical groups have their natural partners, and their representations should be studied together. I will use the group of orthogonal transformations as an example.

报告人简介：

Chengbo Zhu is a professor of mathematics at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He received BSc from Zhejiang University in 1984 and PhD from Yale University in 1990 under the direction of Roger E.Howe. He served as the President of the Singapore Mathematical Society (2009-2012), as well as the Head of Math Dept in NUS (2014-2020). He is a Fellow of the Singapore National Academy of Science (2014).
