We report new insights into the temporal dynamics of the mixing layer in an incompressible three-dimensional Rayleigh-Taylor system rotating about the vertical axis. Although the Coriolis force does not perform work, it substantially impacts both the evolution and scaling laws of the turbulent system. Our analysis focuses on the temporal behaviors of the mixing layer, showing the transition between two distinct turbulence stages in the rotating Rayleigh-Taylor system. We propose an innovative phenomenological theory that predicts fresh correlations in the second constraint development stage, based on a balance between the self-advection flux term and the Coriolis force term. This balance directly leads to a logarithmic increase in the mixing layer width and variations in temperature fluctuation flux. Theoretical predictions are supported both qualitatively and quantitatively by direct numerical simulations, validating the proposed correlations.

报告人简介:简历:王政道,男,浙江理工大学机械工程学院能源与动力工程系副教授。主要从事格子Boltzmann算法、湍流热对流、强化传热、柔性体流固耦合、风机优化等相关的教学及科研工作。主持国家自然科学基金项目2项、浙江省自然科学基金项目2项;作为主要完成人获浙江省自然科学三等奖1项。发表30余篇SCI期刊论文;授权实用新型专利2项;授权发明专利4项。
